Tickle time!

Tickle time!

How to guarantee giggles every day!

There’s nothing quite like a giggling baby and what better way to get those giggles than with a tickle!

Here I come – Walk your fingers slowly up their body from foot to tummy, as you say “One, two, three, four, five, here comes the tickle!” make sure your voice sounds excited as you count.

Round and round the garden – Hold the palm or foot, and trace around the edge as you say: “Round and round the garden, like a teddy bear.” Walk your fingers up the arm saying: “One step, two steps…” Then tickle her under the arm and say: “And tickly under there!”.

Cheeky mouse – Holding their palm, trace around it and say “There was a little mouse, and he lived right there (point to the middle of palm). But if anybody saw him, he ran under here! (Tickle under your baby’s arm).

Is that you? – Look surprised to see baby and say “Hello! Are you (insert their name)…? Because if you are, I’m going to tickle you!”.

This little piggy – Squeeze each little finger at a time and say “This Little Piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home. This little piggy had roast beef, but this little piggy had none. And this little piggy went wee, wee, wee, all the way home” finishing with a tickle.

I read online that children on average laugh 200 times a day and adults laugh 15 to 18 times a day. Having a child gives you the chance to make up a pretty big humour deficit, so go on and laugh your way through parenthood. PS – I found this on www.kidshealth.org/parent/ This site is worth a visit; the Learning and Play section is full of great ideas. Enjoy.
