is a project produced by Upon a Tree and Happenings that breaks down Joyce’s Ulysses into a fun, tactile environment for kids. There will be an interactive map of the city inspired by locations and objects from Joyce’s novel as well as some cool features like a mini Sandymount Strand and a giant pork kidney! It’s an effort to open up the Bloomsday experience to kids and families and maybe even teach them a thing or two about one of Ireland’s most famous sons.
Discover fascinating and quirky electronic sound installations by composer Jonathan Nangle. Children and grown-ups will be equally intrigued and delighted. Come on down to look, listen and play … you know you want to!
Explore the weird and wonderful diversity of insects and minibeasts living in and around the pond at the National Botanic Gardens. Perfect your technique with guidance from the experts and learn how to identify the amazing creatures you have captured. Once you have discovered the hidden pond life you will never look at ponds the same way again!

Dublin Kite Festival
Fun, fresh air and frolics are promised for the fifth annual Dublin Kite Festival taking place on Sunday 18th June 2017 at North Bull Island, Clontarf. With free entertainment all day long, it’s the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday with family and friends.
Don’t worry if you’ve never flown a kite – or if you can’t remember the last time you did – because there will be plenty of kiting experts on hand to get you off the ground! Join artist Niamh Synnott for Children’s Art Week! Children will be encouraged through fun art activities to observe, engage in and be inspired by their surroundings. Kids can try their hand using a variety of mediums and materials such as mono and block prints, batik, plein-air painting, and construction using art straws.
Ages 8 – 12 years: 2.00pm – 4.00pm
The Paula Lambert Puppet Theatre is widely recognised as the premier Touring Puppet Theatre Company in Ireland and also internationally renowned for its many fine productions in Theatres throughout Ireland, The UK and Europe.
From its earliest beginning the Lambert family has been involved with RTE TV, working the hugely popular series Wanderly Wagon featuring the Late Eugene Lambert and Judge.
Paula Lambert was the ‘Bosco’ voice on TV for seventeen years and indeed BOSCO is still a firm favourite with the younger children and will make a nostalgic appearance in the opening part of the Show.
The story of Cinderella is a beautifully produced show with large puppets, colourful sets and exquisite lighting.
Tiny tunes, an early years cabaret, is a musical experience for pre school kids that is full and participation and joy.
Old and new songs to clap, dance and sing along to. Susannah de Wrixon brings a wealth of theatre and musical knowledge to inspire little people .Props and musical instruments to beat the band this 40 minutes would be a fabulous introduction to the world of performance and 100% enjoyable for the parents too. Joined by Derek Cronin on piano Tiny Tunes was created with the support of The Ark.
