Christmas Eco-Crafts

Especially for kids this Christmas. Help spread beauty and prevent waste this Christmas by making your own plantable eco-friendly cards with recycled and natural materials. Using bio-degradable seed infused paper, these cards will keep giving long after Christmas, as they can then be planted in your garden, in pots on your balcony or windowsill.

 Dún Laoghaire Christmas Festival

The merry Christmas Market on the Metals will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a feast for the senses featuring delicious festive fare, handcrafted gifts and decorations, a funfair with an old-world children’s carousel and a whole host of very special tempting treats.

Santa’s Postbox at the Christmas Tree beside dlr LexIcon will be there from Saturday November 18th to post your letters to the North Pole and receive a reply before Christmas Day.

Why not swap city centre crowds and stuffed out-of-town shopping centres for Dún Laoghaire town centre with over 280 retail outlets and businesses. From Saturday November 18th the second hour of on street parking is free when you pay for the first hour.

Creating Body Language

CoisCéim Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director, David Bolger invites children to join him and his cast of professional dancers to explore body language and ways of communicating through dance.

Using specially designed ACTIVITY SHEETS you will be guided through a range of fun movement-based tasks and a relay process with others in the group. Together, you will create moves and short sequences and discover more about how you use your body to express yourself!

*Video documentation may be taken and included in the Body Language project and related social media, permission will be sought for this in advance.

Tracks in the Snow – The Henry Girls

Back by popular demand this Christmas, follow the heavenly harmonies of The Henry Girls into an enchanting world of winter!

From sparkling icicles to wolves in the forest, the joy of sledding at high speed or the wonder of the Aurora Borealis on a frosty night, discover the magic and mysteries of the festive season.

And just what did make those tracks in the snow? Find out as the band’s playful humour and trademark folk and trad melodies celebrate some of the things we love to see and do when the world turns white.

Tracks in the Snow was commissioned and produced by The Ark as part of our work to create high-quality live music experiences crafted especially for young audiences. The show premiered at The Ark in Dec 2015.

Czech Philharmonic Family Concert

Dvořák, the story-teller featuring The Golden Spinning Wheel, Op. 109

Whether looking for jazz in a Stravinsky score, explaining a Mahler symphony, or picking out harmonies in a Stevie Wonder song, Jonathan James enjoys finding the right way in for the listener and leaving them with a new-found enthusiasm for the music. This family concert will take the audience on a journey through Dvořák’s vivid musical telling of the macabre but romantic Czech folk tale, complete with a king, a beautiful girl, her wicked step-sister, a magician and his magical golden spinning wheel!
