Young Farmers Series – Cows and Calves

Our Airfield Estate Young Farmers series is back for 2018.  Each of our workshops will focus on different animals and aspects of farming. Our experienced educators will encourage children to get hands-on with life on the farm, learning about our farm animals and how they are cared for, and making toys to keep them active and entertained.
Our aim is for every child who attends these workshops to leave with a greater understanding of farm life, the animals that live there, and their role on the farm.

All workshops are hands on and outdoor based, so make sure to bring your jacket and wellies.

For our first workshop, we will get a behind the scenes look at the farmyard in spring and the chores that need to done. We will follow the journey of milk from udder to glass and learn about caring for calves by getting to know the youngest members of the herd.

Mindfully Me series book launch

Book launch of Ireland’s first mindfulness series for children published by Lilliput Press.

The series contains three books which introduce mindfulness and self compassion practices to children in fun and creative ways.
The “Mindfully Me” series promotes positive mental health for children and helps children learn effective self care tools and techniques that will last a lifetime

There will be free children’s creative mindfulness workshops, children’s mindful art and crafts, face painting and lots more treats

Sunday Sketching – Draw me a dog

Celebrate the Chinese New Year during the last day of Dublin Chinese Festival and join us at the Gallery for this special Sunday Sketching celebrating the year of the dog –Draw me a Dog will be inspired by artworks where the dog is represented, such as painting by Sean Keating and sculpture of John Kindness.

During these free sketching workshops for families, we invite you to explore and respond together to our collection and temporary exhibitions through discussion and drawing. Bring your own sketchbook or avail of the drawing materials provided.

Early Years Workshops: My Town


Visual artist Jane Groves invites you to investigate a sense of place in this hands-on experience for the very young and their grown-ups. The session is structured to inspire young imaginations through stories and the playful building of a dream city. There will be places to plant flowers, build towers and the chance to paint the town red, green and purple!

Breastfeeding Alfresco – stand up comedy show

After performing a sell out show at Bray Comedy Festival, Diane O’Connor is back. It’s a fun and informative show focussing on the funny sides of breastfeeding that we don’t often hear about.

Diane O’Connor is breastfeeding but she won’t let that keep her indoors. Join her in this fun and informative stand-up comedy show inspired by breastfeeding, motherhood and related adventures!
Diane O’Connor is a stand-up comedian and performer from Dublin. She has performed around Ireland, London and Edinburgh. Diane wrote and performed her first solo show “Pregnant and Standing” last year while very pregnant. She is a regular on the Dublin comedy circuit.

“Diane’s show took feminine issues often derided, often tough to tackle, and spun them into hilarious nonconfrontational set pieces. Her comedy style is simultaneously informative, sarcastic, smart, and heart-warming. The universality of being human is what lies at the forefront of her work – knowing her worth, while being able to laugh at it”

Mountains to Sea Festival 2018 – Meet Vivian French

Meet the brilliantly funny and enthralling storyteller and children’s author Vivian French as she dips into both her Knights series and Cherry Pie Princess.  Being a princess is a bit dull for Princess Peony who is very independent and wants to do things on her own, especially cooking. Will she be able  get what she wants? Vivian French presents the marvellous tale of the very determined girl, The Cherry Pie Princess.  Hear Vivian read from her latest knightly tale Knight in Training: To the Rescue!   Will we see the brave Sam J Butterbiggins complete his knightly quest?

Goldilocks and the three bears

Imagine a storybook that comes alive! Miriam Lambert is delighted to present “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” where the story comes alive within her original two-tier puppet booth. Peek and Boo, Miriam’s signature characters guide the children to the tale of a little girl who pays a visit to the home of the adorable baby bear!

Miriam Lambert has been at the heart of the Irish puppetry industry since her childhood, having grown up with the Lambert Puppet Theatre in Dublin. Trained by her mentor and father, the late Master puppeteer Eugene Lambert, she has played an integral part in the creation of many of the legendary puppet characters and performances in the renowned Lambert productions. Miriam has developed her own unique signature shows which have taken her to Europe, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan and the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC. She is the quintessential travelling ‘one-woman show’ who can travel anywhere with her entire show in a ‘bag’. Her unique and creative style of puppetry is a theatrical joy for both child and adult to behold.

Punch Lion Kids Comedy

A family friendly stand-up comedy club for kids and big kids! We bring top comedians with silly jokes to make you giggle and grin and laugh out loud.

Come to the show for knock knock jokes and silly songs, nonsense word play and stories of pongs. Big loud mime and funny faces, laughing loud at weird voices. Making your belly ache with laughter, lots and lots to talk about after!
