There are many fun activities happening over the next week for you to enjoy.
Please check that they are still running before setting out, as sometimes even the best events have to be postponed.

 

Dublin City Street Velodrome

This free 3-day family friendly event will include live entertainment, music, kids’ activities, special guest appearances and great cycle sport entertainment!

On Thursday 14th and Friday 15th June, StreetVelodrome Dublin City will be open to schools and the general public. Cycling enthusiasts are invited to come along to Smithfield Square and test out their skills on the velodrome which will be open from 3pm to 6pm – no booking required! Bikes, helmets and professional coaching will all be provided free of charge.

On Saturday 16th June, Dublin will host the Cycling Village on Smithfield Square where cyclists can pick up bike care tips. There will be plenty of family entertainment including face painting and arts & crafts The Wobbly Circus’ colourful street performers will also be showing off their cycling skills on penny farthings and unicycles.

Visitors to Smithfield Square on Saturday can also watch the Viking Pro StreetVelodrome Series, a touring competition which sees professional riders competing for gold, silver and bronze medals at events held across the UK and Ireland. Spectators are encouraged to come along and cheer on Team Dublin in the professional race at 1pm.

Water Workshop for Children

Come to discover our watery world at the Rediscovery Centre on Saturday June 9th! Children will learn about where water comes from, how we use it, how important it is and how we can protect our aquatic environment. A number of games and hands-on activities are included.

Children’s Event – Pond Dipping

Explore the weird and wonderful diversity of insects and minibeasts living in and around the pond at the National Botanic Gardens. Perfect your technique with guidance from the experts and learn how to identify the amazing creatures you have captured. Once you have discovered the hidden pond life you will never look at ponds the same way again!

Kids Full Moon Summer Party

The Kids Full Moon Themed Party in the Studio is a Fun Disco For Boys and Girls. Fully supervised the kids will Dance to Music from our Live DJ, Play games, get their faces painted and have fun in a Space full of Beautiful Energy. It’s optional but you can dress up in Neon Clothes as there will be neon lights and face paint.

Dublin Kite Festival

Fun, fresh air and frolics are promised for the sixth annual Dublin Kite Festival taking place  at North Bull Island, Clontarf. With free entertainment all day long, it’s the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday with family and friends.

Don’t worry if you’ve never flown a kite – or if you can’t remember the last time you did – because there will be plenty of kiting experts on hand to get you off the ground! With lively music, exciting games, kite making workshops, a kite flying competition and buckets of enthusiasm you’re sure to have a great day at Dublin Kite Festival 2018. Let’s go fly a kite!

Street Feast

Street Feast is a day of local lunches across Ireland on 10th June, hosted by you and your neighbours. They can be anywhere really — out on the street, in a local park or in your front garden. There are lots of good reasons to have a Street Feast, but it’s really just a great excuse to eat great food, celebrate your local community and meet new people who live near you

Marley Park Picnic

Each summer ‘Picnic in the Park’ takes place in aid of LauraLynn House, Irelands first Children’s Hospice.

Its a very deserving cause and for the last number of years members have been delighted to support their efforts.

Learn To Play Music Day 2018

Ever wondered what it would be like to play a piano, pluck a violin string or blow into a saxophone? Well, now you can with Castleknock School of Music’s ‘Learn to Play Music Day’, where you can come and try an instrument. There are also ‘Mini Music Classes’ available for ages 6 months to 7 years. Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox

Following on from the Sell-Out Success of Summer 2017’s James & the Giant Peach, this year Mill Productions will be bringing another Roald Dahl Classic to the dlr Mill Theatre stage in June 2017 – Fantastic Mr Fox!  This production will certainly end the academic year on a high note but it will book out fast so please book early! Directed by Geoff O’Keeffe, with Matthew O’Brien as Mr Fox and Evelyn Shaw as Mrs Fox and a supporting cast.
