Mini-Greenhouse Family Workshop!

This bank holiday design and create a mini-greenhouse with your kids. These mini-greenhouse help cool our planet by guzzling up all the CO2 at home! Kids will learn about the carbon cycle through the secret life of plants!

Princesses Can Be Pirates

What is considered “typical” or “normal” behaviour for girls and for boys? Highly energetic, fun and whimsical, Princesses Can Be Pirates, playfully questions our gender preconceptions. 

Two versatile performers join forces as they journey into unknown territory, where play is everything and everywhere. In a series of hilarious scrapes and lively escapades, they swap toys and activities in their quest to defy stereotypes and break the norm. 

The world holds endless possibility for us to discover who we are and who we want to be, and this duet celebrates it all. A dynamic and humorous performance – created for children but inspiring for young and old alike.

Sunday Summer Kids’ Drop-by Activities

Kids, join us for fun activities in the dedicated Children’s Erasmus Education Garden! Each week we will have a different activity to help you to become an expert gardener. Sow your own vegetable and flower seeds, make seed bombs, design bug hotels or re-use everyday things to create your own piece of eco-art. The Metals Family Fun Cycle

Join us for a fun community cycle down the Metals. Starting at the green at Hillside/Dalkey Park, meandering along the historic off-road Metals walking/scooting/cycling track until we reach Dún Laoghaire. A reward awaits all those who complete the full 3km trail!

🍦🍦Free ice cream for all under 18s who start and finish the Metals Cycle

All “cycles” welcome: scooters, bikes, balance bikes, roller blades, skateboards.
There will be marshals on the day to keep the group together.

All participants under 18 should be under parent/guardian supervision.

Agri Aware’s ‘National Open Farm Day’

In its’ second year, Agri Aware’s ‘National Open Farm Day’ is an event giving you the opportunity to visit a farm in Ireland and explore the ‘farm to fork’ journey of local food!

There will be plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy such as face painting, butter discos, colouring tables, milk races and more. This event is open to all ages! There will also be cookery demos from celebrity chefs and farm walks that everyone can enjoy!

This event is totally free and there will also be free parking the day of the event.

Please note, no dogs will be allowed on the farm unless they are registered service dogs. As this is private property, anyone may be asked to leave if they cause disruption to livestock or visitors.

Bring your camera, pack a picnic and enjoy a day out on the farm!

Free guided Tours – dlr Spring into Heritage 2019

The Spring into Heritage is a series of free guided tours run by the Heritage Office of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. These are running weekly until May 26th.

Ages suitable for? They are suitable for schools, students, families, historic groups and individuals interested in local history. 

James Joyce Tower & Museum – daily 10.30 and 2.30

You will learn why this Martello Tower was built and its association with James Joyce. You can also enjoy stunning views of Dublin Bay from the top of this iconic building.

Cabinteely House – Tuesday at 11,12,1 & 2pm and Sunday 12,1, 2 & 3pm

Take a guided tour of Cabinteely House, a stunning eighteenth-century country house.Hear the colourful story of the house including, its original owner Robert Nugent and his rise up the social and political ladder, as well as JosephMcGrath, revolutionary and key figure in the IrishSweepstakes. Meet at the front of Cabinteely House, Cabinteely Park, Cabinteely, Co. Dublin.

Seapoint Martello Tower – Wednesday 11, 12, 1, & 2pm. Saturday 12, 1, 2 & 3PM

The Martello Tower at Seapoint was one of a series of towers and batteries built between Bray and Balbriggan in 1804 – 1805 to repel a threatened French invasion. A unique story told in a unique location. This is an indoor and outdoor event. Suitable footwear is essential and bare feet are not allowed. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.

The Oratory – Wednesday 11, 12, 1 & 2pm Saturday 12,1,2 & 3pm

The Oratory in Dún Laoghaire is a hidden gem ofCeltic revival art. This tiny building is home to some of the most spectacular artwork from the first half of 20th Century Ireland, all produced by Sister Concepta Lynch. This tour is not to be missed! Library Road entrance, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.(entrance is beside the children’s playground on Library Road)

Marlay House – Thursday 11, 12, 1 & 2pm Saturday 12,1,2 & 3pm

Take a guided tour of this wonderful country house. Hear the story of how the original 17th Century house, called The Grange was purchased in 1764 by David La Touche of French Huguenot origin, extended, and renamed Marlay, and was then sold in1864 to Robert Tedcastle, the well known Dublin coal merchant. The Tedcastle family lived at Marlay until 1925. In 1925 Philip Love (a market gardener, who at one time was the largest tomato producer in Ireland) acquired the House.Meet at the front steps of Marlay House, Marlay Park, Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin. Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre – Saturday’s at 2:30pm

This is a fully guided visit of Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre and St Begnet’s Church & Graveyard. Our knowledgeable Guides and costumed actors bring history to colourful life as part of the guided tour.On site, there is a Medieval Fortified Townhouse/Castle, an Early Christian Church & Graveyard and multi-lingual Heritage Centre with historical information in 12 languages.The Writers’ Gallery features many of the internationally renowned writers and creative artists from Joyce to Bono and Beckett to Maeve Binchy. Laurelmere Cottage – Saturday at 10 and 11am

During the Spring into Heritage Programme, join us to hear the story of Laurelmere Cottage. In the centre of Marlay Park this two storey 17th and 18th Century cottage was recently restored by DúnLaoghaire-Rathdown County Council Architect’sDepartment and is now the headquarters of theRoyal Horticultural Society of Ireland. Meet at the front of the cottage.

Fernhill Tour Walk – Sunday at 2pm

The well-known gardens at Fernhill were laid out by the Darley family and for many years were opened to the public by the Walker family. This tour looks at the history of the Fernhill gardens and explores some of the stories that lie behind the various garden features. Meeting point New Entrance beside the Roundabout opposite Belarmine Avenue. No Car Parking available within the grounds of Fernhill. Pedestrian Access only.

Family Concert With Affinití: Once Upon A Time

A whistle-stop tour through best loved songs from animation and beyond with award-winning trio Affinití (soprano, harp and violin). The younger audience members will be encouraged to join in games that will teach them about music in a fun and imaginative way, using songs they know and love. Featuring familiar favourites from beloved musicals and films, there’s something for all the family! Feel free to dress up as your favourite character and join in the singing and playing.

Red Bull Cliff Diving: Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin

For the first time ever, the Irish stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will take place in Dún Laoghaire Harbour on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May 2019 from 5pm both days. The world’s elite male and female divers will go head to head in Carlisle Pier in front of thousands of spectators. Don’t miss out!

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is coming to Dún Laoghaire Harbour where the 22 divers will take the plunge on Carlisle Pier. The 2nd stop of the World Series event will be a FREE family event and tickets will not be required. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the show!

Both Saturday and Sunday events will kick off at 5 pm however, we advise everyone to arrive early. The Sunday event will feature the Irish finals and will be broadcasted live on our website, Youtube and Facebook from 7pm. Pets in the City

Come and discover top dogs, curious cats and slithering snakes as Smithfield Square is transformed into a pet lovers paradise! The annual Pets in the City, brought to you by Dublin City Council and supported by the DSPCA and King of Paws, will take place on Sunday 19th May 2019 in Smithfield Square, Dublin 7.

This free, family friendly event promises to be a great day out for animal lovers living in the city with a wide range of activities, stalls and entertainment.

The DSPCA King of Paws Training Team will host Dog Agility Workshops and Scruffs Dog Show, where members of the public are invited to enter their own furry friends.

Pet enthusiasts can expect a range of stalls offering great deals on all kinds of animal accessories, grooming products, toys and novelty items as well as the opportunity to avail of micro-chipping and pet health advice from the DSPCA. (To avail of micro-chipping you must bring ID and proof of address i.e. utility bill). A reptile corner and a small animal farm will give visitors the opportunity to interact with, and learn about, all kinds of animals.

Pets in the City is a fantastic day out and offers families the opportunity to bring their pets into the city for a fun and interactive event. Last year, over 5,000 pet lovers attended the activities on Smithfield Square.
