Take a look at the family friendly events happening in and around Dublin over the next week for you to enjoy.
Please check that they are still running before setting out, as sometimes even the best events have to be postponed.

Valentines breakfast with Mickey & Minnie Mouse

Join us at Kidspace for a Valentines themed breakfast event with Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Kids will love our delicious sweet pancakes cooked by our in-house chef. They will also get to enjoy singing and dancing with Mickey and Minnie as they interact with the children for some well known songs. Each child will get a balloon to take home.

There will also be an opportunity to snap some 1:1 photographs alongside with Mickey and Minnie, so you have great memories of their special breakfast to look back on. Children are encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite characters should they wish to.

Admission also includes 60 minutes playtime in our playcentre. We have 5 ball pits, 4 slides and a zip-line which is at the top of our 4 story playframes! We also have role play areas, a pamper parlour and a race track.

This event is suitable for children up to 10 years. Booking is essential and numbers are limited for this special event. 

Please note adults do not need to purchase a ticket to attend with their child. However, only 1 adult will be permitted into the area where the event is happening with their child due to space restrictions. Additional adults will be able to join for a photo opportunity with Mickey and Minnie at the end should they wish to.

Bop And Boogie with Jess Rowell

Enjoy music and dance with your little one in this fun workshop specially designed for you and your toddler to bop and boogie. Dance artist Jess Rowell will guide you in an exploration of movement, colour and rhythm.

These workshops are designed for children aged 2-4 years.
This series of individual monthly workshops is intended to allow you and your child to explore different art mediums in an open and undirected way. There will be mess but there will also be fun! Cost: €5 per child per workshop (accompanying adult is free). Box Office on 01-8852622. Please respect age limits as each workshop has been designed especially for this age range. All children must be accompanied by an adult and all adults must be accompanied by a child. Where indicated please DRESS FOR MESS and bring a change of clothes. These sessions are only suitable for one parent/guardian and accompanying child (without siblings).

Join us for a morning of creativity and magic where we will draw and paint nature spirits and faeries from our imaginations. The first fifteen minutes will be spent outdoors visiting some trees in the woods. (We will be accompanied by volunteers from the farm to ensure everyone stays together).

Please dress in very warm clothes for the outdoor part.

Cost: €16 per child paid in advance.

At our weekly drop-in workshops, children and their parents/guardians/carers are encouraged to work together on creative projects. Drop-in and stay for as long (or as little!) as you wish.

Suitable for children of all ages, these workshops take place in the Maples Group Creative Space in our Atrium.

Mad Science workshop

Join us at the Rediscovery Centre for our Mad Science workshop for kids. We will be exploring the science of our everyday lives and doing hands-on science investigations on forces, magnetism and chemistry. From investigating the force of gravity, to making parachutes and slime, this workshop will bring the mad scientist out in everyone. 

Bicycle Basics – Parent and Child Workshop

Once children are using their own bikes it won’t be long before they need a bit of maintenance. This workshop is designed for a child and an accompanying adult to participate together and it teaches the children how to do basic maintenance on their bikes.

This workshop is suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years old. It will be a combination of demonstration and hands on activities on childrens bikes provided for the class.

This will include:
Basic rules for nuts and bolts
Checking for loose bearings
Adjusting saddle height
Checking wheel nuts are tight

How to know what size of wheel a bike has
How to pump up a tyre
Finding punctures in an inner tube

Checking and tightening brakes
Oiling chains
Giving the bike a quick clean

*Child must be accompanied by one adult

Lego Activity

Come along to a roaringly exciting Lego workshop, as we welcome you to our awesome Lego themed room tucked away upstairs in Kidspace Rathcoole, where the Lego movie will be playing on arrival.

This workshop is suitable for kids aged 5-10 years and will be tailored to their age group. Our staff will lead the activity and help the kids to build their creations. 

Of course there will also be time for playing in our 10,000 sq ft playcentre and all our little guests will be treated to a hot cooked lunch of chips with sausages and chicken nuggets or a vegetarian pasta dish. Everyone will also leave with a lego box so they can build something great at home.null

Slime Making

When Thursday 20th and Friday 21st at 10.30 at Kidspace Rathfarnham.

Ages suitable for? 4-8 year olds

Kids will be getting hands-on to create their very own gooey slime from scratch.

They will also have the opportunity to add different colours and glitter.

Everyone will get to take home their own unique slimy creation.

Top tip – it keeps for up to 1 week if you keep it in the sealed tub in the fridge.

Of course there will also be time for playing in our playcentre and all our little guests will be treated to a hot cooked lunch of chips with sausages and chicken nuggets or a vegetarian pasta dish. 

Princess pamper party

Little fashionistas will love a morning of pampering and play as we open the doors of our pamper parlour for some mid-term fun.

All our little guests will be treated to pink lemonade and treats on arival and they will also have fun with our bubbly fun foot spas as they await their treatment. There will be music and fun, as the kids choose a princess dress or robe to wear for the full salon experience.

Drop-in to the Museum to discover what people ate for their supper in the past! Learn how archaeology helps us understand how food in Ireland has changed from prehistoric Ireland through to Medieval times, match the menu to the time period and then make your own tiny replica quern stone!

Join Dave from the Rediscovery Centre to make your own bird nesting box out of reclaimed wooden pallets. Learn a new skill and also find a comfy spot for local birds to rest for the remainder of the year.

Learn the FUN and ENGAGING printing technique of Cyanotype.

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that uses a combination of two safe chemicals that, when mixed together and exposed under sunlight, produce a cyan coloured print…the original ‘blueprint’.

Each child will learn about the cyanotype process and be given all the skills they need to create their own art works.

Classes are limited to ten in order for us to give creative and positive encouragement to everyone.

Dabbledoo Music Workshop

DabbledooMusic provides an accessible, engaging and fun way for all the family to enjoy playing music together, regardless of previous experience or ability. Their resources have been developed to encourage creativity and collaboration through the power of music. They use a system of animated, colour-coded notation that anyone can understand to get everybody making music in no time. 

DabbledooMusic was set up in 2010 by Shane McKenna and Killian Redmond, both artists and educators who shared a mutual love of music. Since then, they have developed an entire music curriculum. In this workshop you will be provided with instruments and play along to Igor The Octopus (the world’s greatest drummer!), learn melody with Jazz Cat and even play an Irish Polka. Spaces limited to 30 per workshop so early booking is advised!
