Time for art and craft!

Arts and crafts are a life saver for a busy mum and so much fun for your little one. Having a good stock and wide range of Arts and Crafts supplies in your toy cupboard / box, bag or shelf is they key to extending the fun and deepening the learning experience.

Ideally if you have the space dedicate an area in the house to the Arts! If possible a corner of the kitchen or somewhere near the kitchen. This way your little one can work on his/ her creative side leaving you free to get on with your work or taking a break!.

An easel is a great idea if you have room, I love the one from the Early Learning Centre, Smyths also have good ones. An other great thing to have is children’s size table & chairs. Keep your supplies in semi order, offer crayons one session, glue and glitter another and paint the next time. Here are some of my favorite supplies:

  • PlayDough
  • Modelling clay (plasticine)
  • Cutters
  • Rollers
  • IcePop sticks
  • Glitter
  • Shiny shapes
  • Ribbon
  • Fabric cut-offs
  • Straws
  • Poster paint
  • Paint
  • Pencils
  • Crayons
  • Paint brushes
  • Newsprint paper
  • Coloured card
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Sponges
  • Non spill paint pots
  • Core of toilet rolls
  • Sticky contact paper for creating collages
  • Cereal boxes
  • This list could go on and on!
