There are many fun activities happening over the next week for you to enjoy. 
Please check that they are still running before setting out, as sometimes even the best events have to be postponed and 
we know how frustrating that can be with little one’s in tow.

Winter Wonderland

The Gallery’s Christmas Family Art Holiday is the longest running museum activity in Ireland and is now firmly part of the tradition of Christmas in Dublin

When: Monday 30th December from 3-3.50pm
Where: National Gallery of Ireland, Merrion Square West, Dublin 2
How much: Free
Ages: Suitable for 4-10 year olds
Events are free, no booking necessary.
Numbers limited to 40, on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early to secure a place.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Workshops last 50 minutes.

The Moving Crib

A delightful experience awaits you each Christmas season at the Apostolate’s premises in 42 Parnell Square. The moving crib brings us back to simpler times and has fascinated generations of children from Dublin and all over Ireland for more than half a century.

When: from now until Jan 8th. Mon-Fri 2pm-6pm, weekends 11.30-6pm. (Closed Dec 24th, 25th, 26th and 1st January 2017)
Where: 42 Parnell Square
How much: Free, donations happy received

Take a Trail: Winter Trail Activity Booklet

Drop-In to the Museum and challenge yourself to our winter trail to see how people from the Stone Age up to the Medieval Period had fun and celebrated different feasts in winters gone by when days were cold and nights were long.

When: From December 1st – 31st.
Where: National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street (Archaeology)

New year, New family friendly career?

PlayLab Leaders (2 to 5 mornings per week)

We are currently looking to hire up to two new PlayLab Leaders working two to five mornings per week. Venues are allocated to leaders based on their location so that travel time makes sense. Would suit an outgoing self-driven person who loves the idea of working with babies and toddlers. Our PlayLab leaders have a range of backgrounds (Montessori graduates, early child care training, drama etc.) they all have a special something that makes them perfect for this role. You will need your own car, strong singing voice essential. Extensive training provided. Email to hear more.

PlayParty Leaders (Weekend work)

We are currently looking to hire PlayParty Leaders to work Saturdays and Sundays (you could sign up to only work 2 weekends per month if that suited). Parties are held in our venues and in customers homes. Own car essential, training provided. Email to hear more.


New Year’s Festival

You’d be mistaken to think that New Year was celebrated on the eve of the 31st and the first few hours of the 1st Jan – In Dublin, we are having a 3 day festiival and there are LOTS of fun events happening and a few of them are family friendly – yippee.

Below are a couple of family events, please check yourself for others, and do double check that events are happening before packing up the children – just incase…..


Motion, graphics and 3D animation will manipulate this magnificent building. Gaze at fantastic animations, unfathomable shapes and blazing graphics as they reveal themselves twirling and rotating in the dark winter’s night sky.

You’ll be awed by the optical illusions, the ultra-bright crisp and the richly coloured images. During this incredible visual experience you’ll be completely immersed in a fresco of light.

When: 30th December, 31st December & 1st January from 5-10pm

The Great Temple Bar Treasure Hunt

Dublin Decoded is one of the capital’s leading guided walking tours.  Chief guide and Dublin Decoded supremo, the art historian Arran Henderson has chosen a dozen or so highlights of Temple Bar, one of the most richly varied and storied districts of the capital.   Armed only with map and a handful of clues, it will be up to you and a team mate to find them, against the clock!

When: 11.30-1.30pm on 30th and 31st December
Where: Rory Gallagher Corner, Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2
How much: €6 per adult and €3 per child
Ages: Family event, best suited for children 6-13
